It’s a case of he-says, she-says: House Speaker Nancy Pelosi won’t run for re-election to that post — at least, that's what North Carolina Democratic Rep. Mike McIntyre says he's heard. That observation, reported in
The Hill, propelled the she-says, sort of: A top Pelosi aide who requested anonymity denying the rumor to another newspaper reporter, saying the California Democratis focus “is on Democrats and retaining the majority, which we will. And she’ll remain as speaker.”

McIntyre said that, if Pelosi were to run, “She’s going to have opposition, and I look forward to being part of that opposition.” McIntyre’s comments echo the apparent mood of a growing number of Democrats who say they’ll oppose Pelosi for speaker if their party can retain the majority.
McIntyre himself faces a tough re-election campaign against Republican Ilario Pantano in his district, which covers the southern tip of North Carolina.
