House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, perhaps realizing her tenuous position, is using fundraising for fellow Democrats to keep her job, rather than trying to directly gain their support. She has raised $52.3 million for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee and candidates during the campaign, Roll Call reports. And she has hosted 212 rallies and fundraisers outside of Washington, D.C. and her home base of San Francisco.

She sometimes works 17-hour days making calls and appearances for fellow Democrats.
“It would be kind of odd if she was using this precious time that we have before the election to try to shore up her support within the Caucus,” one Democratic leadership aide told Roll Call.
“What she’s doing is shoring up her position. ... If you are in the leadership, you are not looking at your own political future at this stage.”
