Wall Street Shifts Support from Obama to Romney

By    |   Monday, 22 August 2011 11:57 AM EDT

President Barack Obama has sought to re-establish his relationship with Wall Street executives after alienating them with criticism after the financial crisis of 2008-09 and after signing the financial reform law last year. But his effort apparently isn’t working too well, The Hill reports.

Almost 70 people who work for financial services companies and live in the New York City area have given money to presumptive Republican presidential front-runner Mitt Romney this year after donating to Obama in 2008, according to the news service’s review of fundraising statistics.

The 67, work for banks, private equity firms, and hedge funds, have provided more than $147,000 to the former Massachusetts governor.

Wall Street provided an important source of cash for Obama during the 2008 election, so he’s seeking to tap the mine again.
