President Barack Obama has lost the burst of support he attracted early this year. His approval rating has slid to 47 percent from 51 percent last month, according to an a new Washington Post/ABC News poll,
Politico reports.

That’s only 1 percentage point higher than the lowest rating of his presidency. His disapproval rating has jumped to 50 percent, up from 45 percent in March. The survey showed that 57 percent of Americans disapprove of the way Obama is handling the economy.
To be sure, he still leads seven potential Republican presidential candidates by margins ranging from 4 to 17 percentage points. That includes Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Mike Huckabee, Newt Gingrich, Tom Pawlenty, Donald Trump and Michele Bachmann. Romney does best, trailing 49 percent to 45 percent.
