Michael Steele Lashes Out at Barbour

Michael Steele, chairman of the Republican National Committee, is no stranger to controversy, and another one is brewing. He’s not too happy about recent criticism from Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour, chairman of the Republican Governors Association, Politico reports.

In an interview on NPR, the questioner told Steele that Barbour complained on election night that his group and others had to "scramble around" to raise more money because the RNC wasn't doing enough.

Steele’s response, “Well, I think that's about the fact that they don't want me in this job, to put it rather bluntly. That has been a concerted effort since I got the job. But I pay no mind to that. … I have won more elections than any chairman since 1938. … You know, look, I see this as a team effort. I think the governor just misspoke, to put it politely.”
