WASHINGTON - U.S. Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell said Tuesday significant action must be taken to reduce U.S. debt in order to get his vote for raising the U.S. debt ceiling.
"Something real" must be done about U.S. debt, something that the markets, the American people and other countries would consider significant, McConnell told reporters. He added that from his point of view, raising taxes is not on the table as a way to reduce U.S. debt.
