The tax deal that President Barack Obama reached with Republicans in Congress shows that he can get things done if he’s willing to move away from his liberal views. And ace political strategist Cameron Lynch writes on
Politico that the president better keep doing so if he wants to have any success.

“President Obama appears, once again, to be learning the hard way that governing is much more difficult than campaigning,” Lynch says. “The tax issue is just the first of many ‘deals’ he will likely have to strike with Republican members of Congress in the wake of the 2010 elections.
"No doubt these ‘compromises’ will anger his liberal electoral base. If the President harbors any hope of a second term in office, however, he needs to make decisions like these commonplace, not abnormalities”.
