Lou Holtz, the former superstar coach of the Notre Dame football team, is doing his best to win one for the Gipper. He’s hosting a fundraising event Tuesday for Florida Republican Sandy Adams, who’s running for Congress in Florida’s 24th District against Democratic Rep. Suzanne Kosmas,
Politico reports.

And last week the ESPN commentator wrote in a letter for the National Republican Congressional Committee’s campaign arm, “We are late into the fourth quarter of the mid-term elections, and the NRCC needs your immediate help to drive our Republican Party to victory.”
In the past, Holtz supported the late North Carolina Sen. Jesse Helms and former Vice President Dan Quayle. And the ex-coach reportedly considered running for the 24th District seat himself.
