Ingraham to Schultz: ‘Apology Accepted’

By    |   Friday, 27 May 2011 05:05 AM EDT

Radio Talk Show host Laura Ingraham says she accepts left-leaning host Ed Schultz’s apology for calling her a “right-wing slut” and “talk slut” on his syndicated radio show Tuesday. However, Ingraham also said on Fox News Thursday that it is sad that conservative women have to suffer such abuse.

MSNBC suspended Schultz for a week without pay because of his comments. Schultz apologized on his MSNBC show on Wednesday.

“On my radio show this morning I said apology accepted — he apologizes — I'm going to accept his apology,” Ingraham told Fox News’ Bill O’Reilly. “I’ve got to say it’s sad but I — I wasn’t all that surprised. This is what I think conservative women — and to some extent African-American men who happen to be conservative — and even Latinos who are conservative routinely deal with.

“And — and I don’t — I’m not good at playing the victim,” Ingraham said. “That’s not who I am — that’s not what I do. But I — I hope that in the future — if Ed wants to, you know, or anyone wants to criticize what I have to say, that’s fine. Or — or tease me in a humorous fashion. But those words were, you know, kind of eighth grade.”

Ingraham noted lots of things are said on cable television, but if a conservative host said something vile about a liberal woman it would not be tolerated.
