Friday, 08 April 2011 08:49 PM EDT

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - President Barack Obama called House Speaker John Boehner at about 6:30 p.m. Friday, and they "spoke for several minutes" but reached "no resolution" on the budget stalemate, a Republican aide said.

The White House said Boehner made the telephone call, not Obama, but gave no details of their conversation.
