Carter Back in Action After Health Scare

Former President Jimmy Carter is back in action after suffering a gastric viral infection that forced him to be removed from an airline flight last month. He was in good spirits at a dinner Monday night put on by Habitat for Humanity to honor the ex-president and his wife Rosalyn, Roll Call reports.

Carter, who turned 86 on Friday, joked about his favorite cartoon, which appeared in the New Yorker magazine. It shows a young boy informing his father that he hopes to be an ex-president when he grows up.

“I think sometimes President [Barack] Obama thinks about that cartoon as well as I, and everyone who’s served in the White House,” Carter said. He also appeared at a Habitat for Humanity job site Monday.
