Inhofe: No Reason to Attend Climate Summit

Sen. James Inhofe, R-Okla., would be happy to make an appearance at the U.N. climate change summit that began this week in Cancun, Mexico, for the second year in a row. But given that there’s virtually no one at the event to listen to his skepticism about global warming, what’s the point?

“The only problem with that is there’s nobody there,” Inhofe, the top Republican on the Environment and Public Works Committee, tells Politico. “I don’t know why I would go if there’s nobody there,” Inhofe said, though he hasn’t ruled it out.

He went to last year’s summit in Copenhagen for about three hours, holding an impromptu press conference before departing for votes in Congress.

“That was probably the most enjoyable two-and-half hours I’ve ever spent, because I was able to come in right behind President Obama, Hillary Clinton, Nancy Pelosi, John Kerry and able to successfully refute everything they said” Inhofe says.
