Herman Cain, who announced Saturday he was seeking the GOP nomination, says if he is elected president the nation will become debt-free. The former CEO of Godfather’s Pizza also said on “Fox

News Sunday” he would free the United States from legislation “forced down the throats” of the American people — like Obamacare.”
“Free from an arrogant disregard of the American people as it relates to the things that people want,” Cain said, in his first televised interview since declaring his candidacy. “Free from a stagnant economy, when in fact, we have the ability to grow a lot faster if we lower taxes, if we get rid of — we lower the capital gains tax.
“And free from dependence on foreign oil — which is only going up — because we don’t have a real energy independence plan,” he said.
Cain also said “raising the debt ceiling is also going to be a negative against market confidence” and congressional Republicans have waited too long to negotiate significant spending cuts in exchange for raising the debt limit.
Cain added the economy should be stimulated by a “payroll tax holiday” for employees and employers.
