The White House probably is “cracking open champagne bottles today” over news that jobless claims fell last week — but it shouldn’t be celebrating, Sean Hannity says.
“I guess I’d be cheering, too, if there was some significant improvement,” Hannity said on his radio program this afternoon. “But there’s not.”
Unemployment claims totaled 391,000, down 37,000 from the previous week’s 428,000, according to the Labor Department.
“That’s not enough to get any job growth going,” Hannity said.
He highlighted a story in USA Today about a $50,000-a-year surveyor who went from prosperity to poverty in less time than it took his daughter to finish her soccer season.
“He’s a victim of all of this,” Hannity said, blaming President Barack Obama’s “bad policies” and “broken promises” for causing the divorced father of three to become one of the 46 million Americans who are poor. “There are so many things that have happened outside of his control.”
Americans are angry at the president over the tanking economy, he said.
“Obama’s starting to get steamed, too, that so many prominent African-Americans are criticizing him over his failed policies,” he said. “The idea that they’re going to celebrate numbers that are this bad is a little bit frightening to me.”
