No Flu Vaccine for Obama Daughters

By    |   Monday, 26 October 2009 11:29 AM EDT

President Barack Obama's two young daughters have not been vaccinated against the H1N1 flu, according to White House press secretary Robert Gibbs.

He said the vaccine has not been made available to Malia, 11, or 8-year-old Sasha because of risk factors.

The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention recommends that children ages 6 months through 18 years of age receive the vaccination, Fox News reports. At present, only children in this group who have chronic medical conditions are receiving the vaccination because their immune systems may not be strong enough to fight off the flu.

Obama on Friday declared the H1N1 flu a national health emergency.
