Gregg: Restructure, Don't Repeal, Obamacare

Tuesday, 19 October 2010 12:50 PM EDT

After their landslide election victory in 1994, House Republicans alienated many voters by shutting down the government. Republicans are working this time around to advance positive policies if they regain control of Congress next week, The Hill reports.

For example, many Republicans in Congress favor repealing Obamacare, or at least blocking funding for it. But Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H., who is retiring this year, doesn’t see that as the best way to go.

"I don't think starving or repealing [the healthcare law] is probably the best approach here," he said on the Fox Business Network. "You basically go in and restructure it."

Former Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin says it’s important that the party follows through on its promises. Otherwise, voters might start asking, "Why not a third party?" she says.
