Four Key Points to Glean From GOP Prez Debate

Politico lists four key issues coming out of the South Carolina debate Thursday night that included potential GOP presidential candidates Tim Pawlenty, Rick Santorum, Ron Paul, Gary Johnson, and Herman Cain. Fox News televised the debate.

1. The candidates took some shots at presumed front-runner Mitt Romney. “‘Governor Romney’s not here to defend himself,’” Pawlenty said, according to The New York Times. “‘So I’m not going to pick on him.’ But throughout the evening, Mr. Pawlenty and other Republicans on the stage tried to do precisely that.”
2. South Carolina Gov. Nikki Haley loomed large in the debate, The State newspaper reports. “With so few candidates at the debate, Haley played a supporting role as the Fox News moderators took up her challenge to presidential candidates to weigh in on a National Labor Relations Board complaint against Boeing Charleston’s plant.”
3. The candidates who didn’t show are the losers, FoxNews.com reports. “They missed out on a chance to weigh in on the biggest issues of the day.”
4. In questions about candidates not present, Fox mentioned Donald Trump, Michele Bachmann, Mike Huckabee, Mitt Romney, and Newt Gingrich, but not Mitch Daniels, Jon Huntsman, or Sarah Palin.
