MSNBC commentator Meghan McCain, daughter of Republican Sen. John McCain of Arizona, lobbed choice words at Rick Santorum on Wednesday.
Discussing her father’s endorsement of Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney on
“The Last Word With Lawrence O’Donnell,” McCain, 27, called challenger Santorum a “moron” and said that if her father had endorsed him, “I mean, I’d be, like, slitting my wrists.”
A blustery O’Donnell insisted that Sen. McCain has “hated” Romney since their rivalry in the 2008 presidential primaries. Meghan McCain refuted this, and admitted to an obsession with Romney’s sons, whom she described as “perfect and beautiful.” O’Donnell mocked her when she said, “My dad really likes Mitt Romney.”
O’Donnell called Romney and his family “robots,” to which Meghan responded, “They’re not [robots], they’re just Mormon, which is a little different.”
The MSNBC host also questioned the value of McCain’s endorsement.
McCain said her father is popular in New Hampshire, and that he “could win governor” of the state if he ran.
