Romney: Work with 'Good' Democrats to Fix Economy

Tuesday, 11 October 2011 08:27 PM EDT

HANOVER, N.H. (AP) — Republican presidential contender Mitt Romney says he would work with "good" Democrats to lead the country out of economic crisis.

Romney is a former governor of deeply Democratic Massachusetts. He opened Monday night's debate of eight Republican contenders pledging to work across the political parties to find solutions. He says that's what he did as governor and what he would do if he wins the White House.

Romney is pointing to his 59-point economic plan as a roadmap. He says his detailed plans should attract interest from voters of both parties.

Texas Gov. Rick Perry says he will offer his own economic plan in the coming days. He says Romney has been running for president for six years, while Perry has been in the race only for a few weeks.
