Once congressional Democrats finish taking in today’s whipping at the hands of their Republican opponents, they will start to fight among themselves. The disputes will focus on congressional leadership positions,
The Hill reports.
Election results could send Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid home to Nevada with a loss of his seat and relegate House Speaker Nancy Pelosi to a lesser role.

As for the Senate, Sens. Charles Schumer of New York and Dick Durbin of Illinois are both plotting to succeed Reid. In the House, Majority Leader Steny Hoyer, D-Md., represents a clear favorite for the post of House Democratic leader, taking over from Pelosi as Democrats assume a minority role. Rep. John Larson of Connecticut may launch a challenge to Hoyer.
