Hillary Clinton: No Chance I Would Run for VP

By    |   Thursday, 13 October 2011 12:20 PM EDT

Hillary Clinton says it's not even "in the realm of possibility" that she would replace Vice President Joe Biden on the Democratic ticket in 2012.

During an interview on NBC's "Today" show this morning, the secretary of State told Savannah Guthrie that no one in the administration had ever raised the possibility to her, despite speculation in other quarters.

"I do not think it's even in the realm of possibility, and in large measure because I think Vice President Biden has done an amazingly good job,’’ the former presidential candidate, U.S. senator from New York, and first lady said. "He has taken on the burden of, you know, selling the economic plan, of traveling the country, of answering people's questions."

Clinton also called the alleged Iranian plot to assassinate the Saudi ambassador to Washington a "dangerous escalation."

"We think that this was conceived and directed from Tehran,’’ Clinton said. "We know that it goes to a certain level within the Quds Force, which is part of the Revolutionary Guard, which is the military wing of the Iranian government. And we know that this was in the making, and there was a lot of communication between the defendants and others in Tehran.

"So we're going to let the evidence unfold. But the important point to make is that this just is in violation of international norms. It is a state-sponsored act of terror, and the world needs to speak out strongly against it," she said.
