Gov. Christie: I’m Not Ready for 2012

Tuesday, 21 September 2010 11:27 AM EDT

New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie says he’s unlikely to seek the Republican presidential nomination in 2012. “I don’t feel like I’m ready,” he told CNBC, according to Business Insider. christie,presidential,nomination,2012“I don’t want it that badly.” Of course he didn’t exactly close off the possibility, but the fact is that Christie, still not known well nationally, would be competing against a crowded field that now likely includes Sarah Palin, Mitt Romney, Mike Pence, Mike Huckabee -- need we go on?

Perhaps he’ll feel ready and want it more badly after the Nov. 2 elections.

Christie’s steps to rein in overly generous public retirement benefits have won the plaudits of many experts. “Ten years from now, public workers will be looking for my address so they can send me a thank-you note, because they'll have a pension,” he said. Pensions would turn insolvent without his reforms, Christie says.
