"It may cost me votes. It may cost me an election," Edwards told the editorial board of the Dallas Morning News. "But it was the right thing to do."
Like many Democrats, Edwards is trying to present himself as the outsider against the real outsider -- Republican candidate Bill Flores. "I'm the underdog," Edwards said.
