Chet Edwards: Stimulus Package May Cost Me

Voting for the $862 billion stimulus package last year may cost him his job in Congress, says Rep. Chet Edwards, D-Texas. But give him credit at least for falling on his sword. While the public obviously has turned against the stimulus, Edwards expresses no regret, The Hill reports.

"It may cost me votes. It may cost me an election," Edwards told the editorial board of the Dallas Morning News. "But it was the right thing to do."

Like many Democrats, Edwards is trying to present himself as the outsider against the real outsider -- Republican candidate Bill Flores. "I'm the underdog," Edwards said.
