Pro-business groups that stand to lose if the campaign finance DISCLOSE Act passes are opposing a compromise to pass the bill written to amend campaign-finance law in the wake of the Supreme Court's Citizens United decision, The Washington Post reports.
The current version of the bill would exempt the NRA and some other big nonprofits from donor disclosure rules, a move that has enraged conservatives and business groups.
On Monday, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce previewed an ad against DISCLOSE that they will be running in D.C.
The ad warns that "while businesses are silenced, unions and the biggest special interest groups in D.C. are given a pass."
