WASHINGTON (Reuters) - The No. 2 Republican in the U.S. House of Representatives said Tuesday that a new budget plan that has drawn bipartisan praise contains some good ideas but does not do enough to tackle the biggest drivers of the national debt.
House Republican Leader Eric Cantor said he liked that the "Gang of Six" plan calls for a top tax rate of 29 percent, down from the current 35 percent.
"That said, I am concerned with the Gang of Six's revenue target. The plan fails to significantly address the largest drivers of America's debt, and it is unclear how the goals of tax and entitlement reforms would be enforced," Cantor said in a prepared statement.
