The campaigns of two Republican House candidates may benefit from a promise of choice committee assignments by Rep. John Boehner, who will likely be House Speaker if Republicans win control of the House. Rep. Charles Djou of Hawaii has announced that he is slated for a seat on the Appropriations Committee, and Vicky Hartzler, running for a seat from Missouri, says she was promised a posting to the Armed Services Committee,
Politico reports.

“Charles would fight to curb government spending while working to ensure the Pacific Fleet, defense installations, and military personnel in Hawaii have the resources they need to help keep America secure,” Boehner said, according to a Djou release. “I look forward to … placing him on the House Appropriations Committee at the earliest possible opportunity.”
Hartzler says, “We’ve received news that Republican leader John Boehner has pledged, if we take the majority, that he will save a seat for me on the Armed Services Committee.”
