Barbour: Cain 'Must Get All Cards on Table' on Allegations

By    |   Sunday, 06 November 2011 02:54 PM EST

Mississippi Gov. Haley Barbour says the sexual-harassment allegations against GOP presidential candidate Herman Cain doesn’t have to be fatal to his campaign — as long as the former Godfather's Pizza CEO can "get all the cards on the table face up."

"Bad news is not like fine wine," Barbour said on NBC's "Meet the Press” today. It doesn't improve with age."

The allegations seem like a "political attack on Cain," the Mississippi Republican said.

"I do think you have the smell, here, of Clarence Thomas," he said.

When people polled on the controversy said they “didn't think it was serious, I think most of them were saying they don't take seriously the charges, they don't believe they're true, that they believe that they're a political attack on Cain," Barbour said. "If that's the truth, then what Herman Cain needs to do is push very hard to make those facts plain."
