Many media pundits have speculated that Republicans will move to shut down the government if they take control of Congress and President Obama refuses to work with their goals. House Minority Leader John Boehner says the pundits have it all wrong, according to a report in
Politico.

“Our goal is to have a smaller, less costly and more accountable government here in Washington, D.C. Our goal is not to shut down the government,” the Ohio Republican said.
But it’s not clear whether Boehner has the support of the rank and file — and potential members of Congress. For example, both Rep. Lynn Westmoreland, R-Ga., and Alaska Senate candidate Joe Miller have said they favor a shutdown if Obama won’t bend on spending.
