Vice President Joe Biden says he has accepted a request from President Barack Obama to be his running mate in 2012, apparently killing Democratic hopes for a "dream team" ticket consisting of Obama and Secretary of State Hillary Clinton.

The New York Times reports that while campaigning on Monday in Pittsburgh, Biden predicted that Democrats will rally to win the 2010 midterms next month, thereby setting the table for an Obama-Biden sequel in 2012.
“I tell you what, there’s real trust, that’s why he’s asked me to run again,” Biden told the newspaper. “Look, he said, ‘We’re going to run together, are you going to run?’ I said: ‘Of course, you want me to run with you, I’m happy to run with you.’ ”

Author Bob Woodward of The Washington Post recently reported that Obama was flirting with the idea of swapping Clinton for Biden in 2012. Both the White House and Clinton denied that report.
The Times reports that Biden never wanted to serve as vice president. But his ability to connect with voters this cycle is seen as an important counterweight to Obama, who is often described as cool and cerebral.
