Rumors have arisen that Senate Republicans are trying to convince moderate Democratic Sen. Ben Nels
on of Nebraska to switch parties. But the rumors are false, he says, according to The Hill. And Nelson says he has no plans to join the GOP.
"They've never approached me, so I don't know how hard they're

working," he said on Nebraska's KFAB radio of Republicans' rumored attempts to sway him, Sen. Joe Lieberman, I-Conn., and Sen.-elect Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., to switch parties.
"I'm not looking to leave the party, and that's why the party hasn't left me," Nelson explained.
Republicans are likely to hold 47 Senate seats once the outcome of Alaska's Senate race is determined. The GOP needs 51 seats to regain the majority, because in the case of a split vote, Vice President Joe Biden breaks the tie.
