Obama to Lunch with Senate Republicans

Saturday, 22 May 2010 12:48 PM EDT

President Barack Obama is reaching out to Senate Republicans, setting up a meeting with them on Tuesday for a bipartisan luncheon on climate change and immigration reform.

"Senate Republican Leader Mitch McConnell and Republican Policy Chairman John Thune agreed to host the president, and the Republican Conference welcomes his visit where they will have a wide-ranging discussion on the year ahead," said Don Stewart, a spokesman for McConnell, told CNN.com.

The issue of immigration reform has become an especially hot topic since Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer signed a tough anti-immigration bill into law.
