NORWALK, Iowa (AP) — A letter from a congressional doctor whose office has examined Republican Michele Bachmann describes the presidential candidate's migraines as occurring "infrequently" and controlled by prescription medication.
Bachmann's campaign distributed the letter dated Wednesday from Dr. Brian Monahan, the attending physician in Congress. Bachmann has been evaluated by that office during her three terms in Washington.
The letter written at Bachmann's request is the latest step in her effort to combat reports that her severe headaches have hindered her work in Congress and could pose problems if she were president.
Monahan says Bachmann has undergone detailed lab work and brain scans that are normal. Her as-needed drug regimen includes two commonly prescribed migraine medicines.
Monahan proclaims her "overall in good general health." Bachmann's campaign has declined to release detailed medical reports.
