Murkowski May Get Trumped by Another Write-In

Sen. Lisa Murkowski, R-Ala., has muddied the waters in Alaska by entering the race as a write-in against Republican nominee Joe Miller and Democrat Scott McAdams. Now her supporters, independent observers and some Democrats and Republicans say any of her opponents may push a write-in candidacy by someone with a similar name to hobble the incumbent’s campaign, The Hill reports. The state division of elections has indicated it would likely accept a write-in vote for "Lisa M.," given the difficulty of spelling Murkowski.

"I've been waiting for them to do it [bring in another Lisa M.] for the past three weeks," Alaska's Democratic Party Chairwoman Patti Higgins said of the Miller campaign and the various tea party groups that back him. "They haven't yet, but it wouldn't surprise me if it's coming."

And a source close to Murkowski's campaign told The Hill, "We're watching the names that get filed very closely."
