Recently, the Memory and Aging Center at the University of California, San Francisco published an analysis of the most important factors for preventing Alzheimer’s disease. Researchers reviewed 323 studies about development of Alzheimer’s, and came up with nine distinct lifestyle guidelines that can reduce a person’s chance of developing this most common form of dementia in the United States today.
1. Keep your weight under control, with particular attention to maintaining a trim waistline.
2. Keep your brain active; don’t be a couch potato.
3. Keep your mood under control; don’t let stress control you.
4. Keep oxygen supply flowing to the brain with good blood circulation.
5. To achieve healthy circulation, check your homocysteine level and be aware of any atherosclerosis (hardening of the arteries) in your vascular system. A high homocysteine level can be treated with vitamin B complex, B12, and B6. For data on atherosclerosis, go to nanobiotechpharma.com.
6. Rein in high blood pressure; keep your blood pressure under 120/80.
7. A weak body can lead to a weak brain, so, keep your body active with plenty of physical exercise.
8. Avoid smoking.
9. Avoid high blood sugar.
These are all factors that can be controlled with natural approaches. They do not require medications to be regulated.
Remember that if you already have Alzheimer’s Disease, these factors might help and remember that there is a natural product, New Eden, (information available at wellnessquest.org) that has been shown to actually reduce the symptoms of Alzheimer’s disease in those patients in a controlled study at the University of Miami.
The patients did not show progression of their Alzheimer’s while they were on the program.
