Former Journey frontman and singer Steve Perry has revealed he had a cancerous mole removed from his face in a Website post Thursday.
The 64-year-old singer of such 1980s power ballads as "Don’t Stop Believin' " and "Faithfully" said in a blog posting on Fanasylum.com he learned he had melanoma skin cancer last month. He said he believes the procedure removed the entire tumor.
"Three weeks ago a routine mole was taken off my face and the lab report came back melanoma skin cancer. I've had two surgeries in two weeks to remove all the cancer cells and I've been told they think they got it all and no other treatments are required," he wrote.
Perry also recounted how his girlfriend Kellie Nash recently died of breast cancer.
"She was so strong, so courageous and we really loved each other so very much," he said.
