Jim Carrey Brands California Gov 'Fascist' Over Vaccine Law

By    |   Wednesday, 01 July 2015 02:39 PM

Jim Carrey believes there's a link between autism and vaccines, and he took to Twitter to express his outrage over California's new vaccination law, labeling its proponent Governor Jerry Brown a fascist.

"California Gov says yes to poisoning more children with mercury and aluminum in mandatory vaccines," he wrote. "This corporate fascist must be stopped."

On Tuesday, Governor Jerry Brown signed a mandatory vaccine policy into law that eliminates the exemption for religious and personal beliefs. The law was prompted by an outbreak of measles earlier this year at Disneyland that was linked to low vaccination rates.

Carrey denies he's anti-vaccine, but believes the ingredients included in some vaccines, such as thimerosal and mercury, can harm children and cause autism.

Carrey has doubted the safety of vaccine since his relationship with Jenny McCarthy, which ended in 2010. During their relationship, McCarthy's son Evan was diagnosed with autism, and both Carrey and McCarthy were convinced autism is linked to vaccines. Both actors became activists, and called for toxins to be eliminated from children's vaccines.

"They say mercury in fish is dangerous but forcing all of our children to be injected with mercury in thimerosol is no risk," he wrote. "Make sense?

"I am not anti-vaccine. I am anti-thimerosal, anti-mercury. They have taken some of the mercury laden thimerosal out of vaccines. NOT ALL!"

Carrey continued, pointing a finger at the Centers for Disease Control. "The CDC can’t solve a problem they helped start," he wrote. "It’s too risky to admit they have been wrong about mercury/thimerasol. They are corrupt."

"I am pro-vaccine/anti-neurotoxin as is Robert Kennedy Jr.," he said. "Get that straight."
Only three years ago, Governor Brown opposed eliminating the state's religious exemption for vaccines. But he signed the new mandatory vaccine bill writing, "The science is clear that vaccines dramatically protect children against a number of infectious and dangerous diseases. While it's true that no medical intervention is without risk, the evidence shows that immunization powerfully benefits and protects the community."

Carrey gained fame on the comedy "In Living Color," and went on to start in major movies, including "Dumb and Dumber" and "Man on the Moon."
