Have you ever wondered what your doctors might chat about while you're undergoing an operation and under anesthesia? A Virginia colonoscopy patient found out and didn't like what he learned.
According to a lawsuit reported by Courthouse News Service
and Fox News the unidentified patient used his cellphone to record instructions given to him prior to his procedure last April, and accidentally left it on and recording.
According to the suit, he said his doctors mocked him relentlessly — allegedly calling him a "big wimp" and a "retard," and joking about firing a gun up his rectum.
One doctor made fun of his alma mater (Mary Washington College), threatened to falsely note on his chart that he had hemorrhoids, and is allegedly heard saying to the unconscious patient: "And really, after five minutes of talking to you in pre-op I wanted to punch you in the face and man you up a little bit."
The medical team also joked about a rash on the patient's penis, speculating it might be syphilis, then strategized about how to avoid him after surgery.
The Fairfax County patient is suing for $1.35 million in damages.
