Friday, 06 February 2015 03:21 PM EST

A Missouri teen came back to life after being pronounced dead from drowning for more than 45 minutes after plunging into the waters of an ice-covered lake.

The health officials said that the 14-year-old from St. Charles fell through the ice of Lake St. Louise and was underwater for more than 15 minutes. The doctors who was in charge of the teen, Kent Sutterer, M.D., said that the boy had been dead for approximately 45 minutes after the accident.

Then, his mother then walked into the hospital room, started praying for her son and his heart started working again, the America Herald reports.

The teen was with two friends when they fell through the ice of the lake on January 19.
When asked about the accident, John said that he doesn’t remember too much, but he remembers the tubes at the hospital and is very thankful to God for bringing him back to life.
