See's Candies Recalls Chocolates

By    |   Monday, 17 June 2013 05:43 PM EDT

See’s Company of San Francisco is recalling all of its Milk and Dark Raisins candies because they may contain undeclared tree nuts and eggs, posing a potential risk to people who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to the ingredients.

The products were distributed nationwide through See’s Candies retail stores and mail order. The recalled products are sold in bulk and packaged at the stores in eight-ounce clear cellophane bags. The product UPCs are as follows: Milk Raisins UPC: 737666083060 and Dark Raisins UPC: 737666083053.

No illnesses have been reported to date, the company said.

Company officials said the recall was launched after a retail store discovered a chocolate-covered pecan in the raisin bulk pack, suggesting nut and egg residue may be present in some of the chocolate raisins.

People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to tree nuts — almonds, walnuts, pecans, cashews — and/or eggs run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reaction if they consume these products.

Consumers who have purchased See's Candies Milk or Dark Raisins can return them to their place of purchase for a full refund or exchange, or contact the company at 800-789-7337.
