A Nebraska woman came out of a coma, just hours before family members had planned to remove her from life support.
Teri Roberts, 56, went into a coma in December after getting a rare skin bacterial infection that led to toxic shock syndrome. After 12 days, her family had decided to take her off a ventilator, but just four hours before doing so, she recovered,
Fox News reports.
Roberts’ son, Ryan, said after she suddenly awoke, her husband explained to her that her hands and feet, black with gangrene, would need to be amputated.
"He held up her hands so she could see them, and she shrugged and said, 'OK,' " Ryan Roberts tells the Omaha World-Herald.
She's set to leave the hospital this week, start rehab, and be fitted with prosthetics, and Ryan says she's determined to walk and drive again.
