There is growing evidence that living in the United States is unhealthy for immigrants.
The longer immigrants live in America, the worse their rates of heart disease, high blood pressure, and diabetes become, the New York Times reports.
“There’s something about life in the United States that is not conducive to good health across generations,” says Robert A. Hummer, social demographer at the University of Texas at Austin.
