Listening to jazz can improve your golf game, at least on the green, a new study finds.
The research, published in the Journal of Athletic Enhancement, was done to determine whether golf putting accuracy could be improved by listening to music of various musical genres.
College golfers completed a series of six putting tests while listening to no music or a musical genre that included classical, country, rock, jazz, and hip hop/rap.
Those who played while listening to jazz performed best. All other music genres led to better putting than no music at all -- with the exception of rock, the study found.
Unfortunately for competitive golfers, music is typically not permitted during sanctioned golf tournaments.
