GM Foods Cause Liver and Kidney Damage

Friday, 22 January 2010 08:12 AM EST

Fresh fears were raised over genetically modified crops Wednesday after a study showed they can cause liver and kidney damage.

The findings only came to light after Monsanto was forced to publish its raw data on safety tests by anti-GM campaigners.
They add to the evidence that genetically modified crops (called GM or GMO, short for genetically modified organism) may damage health as well as be harmful to the environment.
