Let's face it. Masks are going to be part of our wardrobe for a while. So, if you're going to have to wear a face covering to protect you from contracting COVID-19, it should be comfortable and easy to use. And it doesn't hurt if the mask looks good, too. Fortunately, innovative manufacturers have created some pretty cool-looking face masks that are washable and wearable to don when you can't observe the 6-foot social distancing guidelines.
According to WIRED, one of the best masks is made by Seattle-based Tom Bihn. It comes in several colors and two sizes. The cloth masks are made from a blend of polyester and cotton and can be machine washed and dried. As an extra bonus, the company donates a mask to a needy charity for every face covering sold.
If you prefer a lightweight, fashionable mask, Sanctuary has you covered. It has a 5-pack of fashion masks in a variety of patterns made from cotton muslin that have nose wires for a snug fit. According to the company's website, Ben Affleck and other celebrities wear its face coverings. Sanctuary also sells matching hats and gloves for a head-to-hand fashion statement that says you are playing it safe.
One of the most comfortable masks to wear is the Wake Up and Fight mask made by Hedley & Bennett. According to WIRED, the company switched gears when it heard about the shortage of personal protective equipment and stopped making aprons and chef coats in order to focus on stitching masks. Dr. Robert Cho, a pediatric orthopedic surgeon, helped design the masks that come with a pocket for a removable filter.
Pleated masks allow for a greater range of motion, making talking easier. Rag & Bone makes 100% cotton masks in a wide range of colors that are very comfortable to wear for an extended period of time, said WIRED.
