'Save David' Campaign Searches for Kidney Donor
Kidney patient David Dolinsky and his wife Michelle
Twenty-one people die every day in the United States while awaiting transplant organs. Rabbi Boruch Wolf has already saved one of those lives, and now he is hoping to help save another.

The New Hyde Park, N.Y., orthodox spiritual leader has started a campaign to find a kidney donor for David Dolinsky, a retired New York trial attorney who is suffering from end-stage kidney disease.

Rabbi Wolf is not only hoping to secure a kidney for Dolinsky, he also hopes to encourage more people to make what are called “altruistic” organ donations. An altruistic donor is a person who donates an organ, typically a kidney, to a complete stranger with no expectation of compensation or reward.

Wolf made such a donation in 2009, and says he’s never for a second regretted giving away one of his kidneys.

There are more than 123,000 Americans who need lifesaving organ transplants, according to the United Network for Organ Sharing.

“The need is so great,” Wolf told Newsmax Health, “I only wish I had a second kidney I could give to David.”

Dolinsky, 71, is healthy except for kidney failure, which makes him an ideal recipient.

“He just needs the one new part and he’ll be fine,” quips Wolf.

The donor needs to have either type O or type A blood.

If you or someone you know is interested in more information about donating, you can contact Wolf at Angel4David@yahoo.com or call 516-360-0299.
