New Technology Helps Colorblind Enjoy TV

Monday, 15 December 2014 12:23 PM EST

Newly available for integration on home TV-top boxes, Eyeteq technology enables colorblind viewers to distinguish between red and green, improving their experience with new details they might not have been able to see previously.

The impact on those without colorblindness who may be watching too is minimal, according to UK-based parent company Spectral Edge.

Eyeteq uses mathematical models to modify the colors of images, and programming that contains considerable red and green such as sports and outdoors undergo the largest adjustments.

To find out if Eyeteq is right for you, a demonstration app is available for both iOS and Android devices and can be downloaded here: eyeteq.spectraledge.co.uk/try-it

Eyeteq is currently looking for brands with which to integrate the technology.

An estimated 250 million people worldwide suffer from colorblindness, according to community interest group Color Blind Awareness.
