Can Body-Chilling Clothing Spur Weight Loss?

Tuesday, 04 August 2015 04:00 PM EDT

Makers of a new line of clothing claim the threads provide an effortless way to slim down — and it can even work while you're asleep.

The high-tech “Thin Ice” clothing, including vests and insoles, works by tricking your body into thinking its temperature has dropped, which promotes weight loss by boosting metabolism and burning more calories, the Daily Mail reports.

Thin clothing line was created by Toronto-based personal trainer and former athlete Adam Paulin, who says it is powered by cooling chips placed on the skin of the feet and abdomen.

Paulin is currently raising money on the crowdfunding site Indiegogo to bring his creation to customers, who can reserve their own insole or vest for $99. He says clothes produce a sensation comparable to jumping into a cold swimming pool.
