Despite growing speculation that she will be taken off life support, the family of Bobbi Kristina Brown is denying that she is brain dead and that they are gathering at her hospital bedside to bid her farewell.
Brown, the 21-year-old daughter of the late Whitney Houston and rapper Bobby Brown, was found face down and unconscious in her bathtub last week. Since the incident, she has been on a ventilator.
"If we issued a statement every time the media published a false report regarding this matter, that's all we would be doing 24 hours a day. This is false, just as is the vast majority of the other reporting that is currently taking place," Bobby Brown said in a statement.
Asked how his daughter is doing, Bobby Brown responded, "She's good," and adding, "We're praying,” Newsday reported.
Bobbi Kristina is being treated at Emory University Hospital in Atlanta, where she remains in a medically induced coma.
There have been widespread reports that her family has decided to remove her from life, which apparently sparked the denial from her father.
Bobbi Kristina's cousin Jarod Brown said on his Instagram page that “the odds are against” his cousin. He urged people to remain hopeful and to “still pray for BK.”
There are also conflicting reports over the circumstances of Bobbi Kristina's injury. Initial reports said no narcotics were found during a search of the home. However, there have been subsequent reports that drugs were found by police in a followup search. Police have not commented.
Bobbi Kristina’s mother, singer Whitney Houston, died in a bathtub from a drug overdose that was ruled “accidental.” The third anniversary of her death is Feb. 11.
