Almost every man carries a cellphone in his pants' pocket without giving the possible dangers a second thought — dangers like the possibility the phone may harm sperm. Men's sperm counts have dropped by more than a third between the years 1989 and 2011, which correlates with the advent of cellphones, and several studies have, indeed, found that sperm can be damaged by the electromagnetic radiation emitted by cellphones.
The company Wireless Armour is coming to the rescue with underpants designed to preserve the "most important assets" of a generation of men that are glued to their cellphones.
Called "Underpants for super heroes," by Sir Richard Branson, the underpants are the brain child of London physician Joseph Perkins. He designed underwear that uses a unique fabric, RadiaTex, which weaves silver into the fabric to create a shield that the company promises will protect a man's private parts from 99.9 percent of the radiation produced by modern conveniences such as cellphones, laptops, and tablets.
Wireless Armour says the underwear, which is a combination of silver and cotton, is extremely flexible but is strong and also comfortable. Silver is highly anti-microbial, which kills odors.
The company sells the unique underwear with two ranges of protection —180 and 360. The 180 has the unique shielding fabric cross the front half of the underwear, and the 360 is made entirely from the RadiaTex fabric and protects a full 360 degrees.
Underpants start at $38 a pair for 180 degree protection and $55 for the full monte.
