The hotel industry has opened its door to amenities that are aimed to attract cautious COVID-19 travelers. Besides the basic precautions outlined by the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention and other healthcare authorities, hotels are now luring back customers by making medical care, touchless cleaning, and robotic assistance as part of their package perks.
According to CNN, guests staying at Atlantis, The Palm, in Dubai, can have free PCR testing in the comfort of their room or suite. Club Meds, known for their all-inclusive policy, say they will cover all emergency medical visits related to COVID-19 for their guests including lab tests, transportation and even childcare.
At the Garden of the Gods Resort and Club in Colorado Springs, Colorado, real-life caddies and golf carts have been replaced by Tempo Walk, a hands-free robotic caddie unit that allows golfers to walk the course without pushing a cart.
The Beverly Hills Hilton, home of the Golden Globe awards, has introduced LightStrike Robots that use UV lights to sanitize guest rooms. While hotels as well as bars are eschewing the happy hour experience, guests at the Ocean House in Rhode Island are treated to a “BarMobile,” where a mixologist brings the drinks from room-to-room along with appetizers to enjoy safely.
According to CNN, many hotels have revamped their properties to include outdoor exercise stations and jogging paths including outdoor yoga. In Cape Cod, Chatham Bars Inn allows guests to dine privately on the lawn or seaside as well as in their hotel rooms.
